MUSIC

Music

We are greatly blessed with an especially high quality of music, under the superb direction and accompaniment of Mr. John Vaida! The Adult Choir lifts our spirits to heights of wonder and splendor; ranging from classic choral pieces, to contemporary solos and duets.

This choir leads the congregation with the hymns during our worship service and provides the soloists for special anthems during the service. We are always looking for more voices to declare the glory of God, and inspire God’s children. Come and add your voice.

Email John at fpc_churchmouse@yahoo.com and tell him of your interest.

MUSICCEREMONIES

Baptism

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…”
(Matthew 28:19)

Presbyterians (from the Reformed Tradition) believe in two Sacraments*; Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Baptism is the sign and seal of incorporation into the body of Christ, his church. Baptism is a communal event. We bring our children before God, as we worship together, and present him/her for Baptism, and in recognition of being a part of God’s Covenant, through Christ.

Declarations and promises are made, by family and congregation. The child’s parents declare their faith in Christ, and their purpose to bring up their child in the Christian Faith. The congregation promises to assist the family by providing worship and educational opportunities for the child.

Adult baptism witnesses to the initiate’s faith in Christ, and promise to live within the fellowship of the church. He/she will proclaim their faith among the worshiping community.

A child is baptized into a particular faith community (church). We at First Presbyterian church are joyful when we have the opportunity to baptize a child of God within our church fellowship.

Please notify the church office of your interest in baptism. The minister will be happy to discuss the meaning of and procedure for baptism.

Lord’s Supper

All children of God are welcome to the Lord’s Table! This includes adults and children, members, visitors, friends. Again – ALL ARE WELCOME!

Weddings

“Jesus was invited to the marriage…” John 2:2

“Jesus waJust as Jesus celebrated at the Cana Wedding with the bride and groom, the family and friends; we at First Presbyterian Church are joyful when a wedding takes place in our community.

If you are interested in having your wedding at First Presbyterian Church, please contact the church office and the Reverend Dr. Bob will be pleased to discuss the procedures and requirements with you.

Funeral/
Memorial Services

“I am the resurrection and the life!” – Jesus

We want to offer Pastoral Care at your time of great loss. We want to pray with you to uplift the hope we have in the risen Christ, and the hope in life eternal with our Creator and Savior.

Please contact the church office, and the Reverend Dr. Bob will offer guidance and prayerful support as you plan the service of Resurrection and Celebration of Life.

Confirmations

We invite our 8th graders to gather with Reverend Dr. Bob and our Christian Education Director, Pam, to prepare to make his/her formal declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and His Way of Life! They make this declaration during the annual Maundy Thursday worship service, which is preceded with a dinner in their honor.
